Six running for three seats in city
Whiteville’s ballots for November are heavy with incumbents and former city employees.
Mayor Terry Mann is being challenged by a write-in candidate, Mark McGee, a longtime member of the police department who served as interim chief.
On the city council ticket, incumbent Harold Troy and former Parks and Recreation Director Tim Collier are running for the District Two seat currently held by Troy.
In District One, incumbent Vickie Pait threw her hat in the ring after initially deciding not to run. She faces fellow incumbent Tim Blackmon, Justin Smith and Calvin Norton. The four are running for two seats.
Early voting began Thursday and runs through Nov. 4. Early ballots may only be cast at the Board of Elections office on U.S. 701 North until just before election day, then regular polling places will be open.
