ABC Commission approves new store location here

As expected, the N.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission Wednesday approved the construction of a new ABC Store at 302 Oak Street off of J.K. Powell Boulevard to replace the current store that is being lost due to the U.S. 701 Bypass widening project.
Whiteville ABC Board Chairman Gary Bass attended the commission meeting in Raleigh to answer any questions.
Approval of the new location by the state board, although mostly a formality, was required before construction of the new store can begin.
The site is on the west side of the bypass where the K&G utility building business is currently located. The property is owned by The News Reporter Co.
