Whiteville to adopt budget, recognize officers Tuesday
Adoption of the budget for the 2019/20 fiscal year, which begins July 1, highlight’s Tuesday's meeting of the Whiteville City Council. The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to be the last in the city’s temporary quarters at Hill Plaza before moving into the new city hall downtown.
In addition to holding a required public hearing on the $11.1 million budget for the coming year, after which adoption is expected, Council will also honor Sgt. Jose Garcia and Ofc. Van Brock for their apprehension of two suspects during the February robbery of First Bank. They also will hear a presentation from Bishop T.L. Hill of Pillar Ground and Truth Church regarding hurricane debris.
Council also is expected to cancel their regular meeting scheduled for June 25 in order to complete the city’s move to the new city hall.
