By Allen Turner, The News Reporter

Whiteville City Manager Darren Currie announced Monday afternoon that Douglas W. Ipock will be the new chief of police, replacing Jeffrey Rosier, who retired at the end of August. Ipock, who is expected to begin work here on Oct. 14, has been a lieutenant in the New Bern Police Department since 2014. A native of Craven County, he has more than 24 years in law enforcement experience and community policing, including supervising and training and managing police offi cers and departmental resources. “Mr. Ipock comes highly recommended by his peers and colleagues,” Currie said. “He was a top performer throughout the interview process. I am excited for the future of policing in the city and feel Mr. Ipock’s professionalism and experience in community policing will continue to advance future development of the department.”
