Press Release: Update Regarding City's Parks and Recreation Department
September 25, 2018
For Immediate Release
Due to Hurricane Florence, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will be adjusting activities typically held in the Recreation Center. The City’s Recreation Center is currently being used as a Red Cross shelter until further notice.
All activities scheduled to take place at the Recreation Center is postponed until further notice, this includes ‘Open Play’.
West Whiteville Park and Nolan Park remain closed at this time until further notice. The Parks and Recreation Football program will continue as planned. However, all other programs are suspended until further notice.
Existing members will experience an adjustment to their monthly/annual membership by way of having additional time being added to their existing membership; equivalent to the time lost associated with the Recreation Center not being available to them for their use. The City is not accepting new memberships until further notice.
The City thanks it citizens and customers in advance for the patience, respect for their neighbor, and understanding. More information will be forthcoming as recovery and its progress continues. Please continue to monitor the City’s website, Face Book page, and The News Reporter for more information.
